Revamping Websites

Web Design / SSL / Data Analysis / Technical SEO
General Info

When I first joined TAG (Trotman Auto Group) I inherited a long overdue project to revamp and secure all websites (9 at that time).

Project Details

I analyzed the sites web traffic and user journey flow to identify how most users navigated the sites. Unfortunately the development agency could not give me access to the web logs to utilize this data to create improved user interfaces and user experiences. The next bummer was using templated web themes. I was forced to work with templated themes used by most automotive companies. This defeated my ability to employ personalized and dynamic experiences. Regardless of many encountered obstacles, I still managed to at least address the following items:

  • Key callouts (hot buttons) shown on homepages - these callouts are the main types of info which web visitors seemed to do when spending time on the sites. For example, Used Vehicles, New Vehicles, Book A Service, and Pre-Approved Financing/Trade-In Appraisals.
  • Site Audit - important items were addressed, including: scripts such as GTM (Google Tag Manager), missing content not transferred from previous web design, sitemaps and robot.txt files, url structures, internal links, canonical tags, and htaccess file.
Results

Websites domain were secured and the redesign project was completed within 4 months for 9 websites.
